It’s far from shocking to hear that the media leans to the left. However, a report from Investor’s Business Daily tracks just how far to the left the media leans by tracking donations.
An analysis of federal records shows that the amount of money journalists contributed so far this election cycle favors Democrats by a 15:1 ratio over Republicans, with $225,563 going to Democrats, only $16,298 to Republicans .
Two-hundred thirty-five journalists donated to Democrats, just 20 gave to Republicans — a margin greater than 10-to-1. An even greater disparity, 20-to-1, exists between the number of journalists who donated to Barack Obama and John McCain.
Searches for other newsroom categories (reporters, correspondents, news editors, anchors, newspaper editors and publishers) produces 311 donors to Democrats to 30 donors to Republicans, a ratio of just over 10-to-1. In terms of money, $279,266 went to Dems, $20,709 to Republicans, a 14-to-1 ratio.
And while the money totals pale in comparison to the $9-million-plus that just one union’s PACs have spent to get Obama elected, they are more substantial than the amount that Obama has criticized John McCain for receiving from lobbyists: 96 lobbyists have contributed $95,850 to McCain, while Obama — who says he won’t take money from PACs or federal lobbyists — has received $16,223 from 29 lobbyists.
Granted this political season the media’s blatant Obama love is so obvious that disclaimers of bias may not be necessary. However, the troubling element of media bias isn’t that they trend left, it is that they claim neutrality. This site like other blogs announce their bias; this is a McCain supporter’s blog, Red State is a conservative blog, Huffington post is a liberal blog. If the bias is admitted that gives the reader/viewer an understanding about how they should view the information given. However, the media has decided to fake neutrality. Certainly, some journalists are able to maintain a level of impartiality, but plenty are not. Networks and reporters on both sides of the aisle should have the backbone to be honest with the public, as at this point they are fooling no one.
Not very surprising to “learn” of media bias favoring Democrats. It would be surprising if the press community reads this article and acknowledges it’s validity.

My hope is that Americans are realizing Obama’s MO here:
Hoodwink and bamboozle the press. The rest of the people will follow along.
I’m praying that we are still Abe Lincoln’s country, where ‘you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.”
Great research and information posted – thanks for that. If only someone in MSM was unbiased enough to report on this blatant bias.

just for reference: I support Obama, I dont hate McCain…….
Yes there is a media obsession with obama that might come back to hurt him……blogs, print, tv, radio are all in the same ObamaBoat and as an Obama supporter I dont know what to think….good or bad? but that doesnt matter because ultimately, its unfair coverage
But I have read a couple of stories from why that is…..the reporters who have to cover mccain hate it….they get bored and he only does maybe one public speaking a day…..the rest have been fundraisers, check johnmccain.com for proof
Obama on the other hand holds many public speaking events: townhalls, interviews, press confrences etc…..
there is more to do and report on, if your a reporter, with Obama than Mccain……
mcCain’s team has prevented him from doing any more interviews on the “straight talk express” for many recent gaffes like his houses, the viagra comments and so on……so they keep him shielded from getting any time with reporters…….
so it makes sense why mccain is not in the news all that much and obama is…….that is the simple answer, or at least the simplest one from all the news lol

Thanks for the comment OR4O. I don’t doubt that Obama events tend to be more exciting; though I do think McCain does do a large # of town hall events.
My main issues is that their is an inherent dishonesty to many in the media claiming impartiality. There is no rule against being biased or taking a particular view point, but many in the mainstream medias portray themselves as objective sources of truth and many of them are lying by ommission. The irony is that they’re doing it in such a blatant manner that they may actually be hurting the one they love.

I am voting for John McCain. For this reason:
If Obama wins the Arabs, Muslims, Jihadist, etc. will be celebrating in the streets just like they did on 911.
In the Muslim world, if your father is Muslim then so are you. Then B. Hussein Obama says that he will get us out of Iraq. They love that too. They see him as a sympathizer. I think this is very dangerous, giving our enemies time to regroup and come back at us later. You know they will. This war is not going away ever. They hate us more than we hate them. They may even be bold enough to go after Israel seeing that Obama does not want to fight.

Also, how fast is this service comparable to Twitterfeed? I currently use Twitterfeed and it is pretty fast in publishing to Twitter.
