Sarah Palin VP Pick

Fox News is reporting Sarah Palin is the VP Pick. A hat tip to Adam at Palin for VP for promoting Sarah Palin all over the internet. Here’s some Palin info from Adam’s Palin for VP.

What I had failed to realize was that she had habitually knocked of powerful incumbent opponents and was a quick learner on the job. In the 2006 gubernatorial election, she rolled over scandal-prone incumbent Frank Murkowski in the GOP primary, then went on to defeat former governor Tony Knowles in the general election – pretty impressive. Further back, she had knocked off an entrenched incumbent to become mayor of Wasilla, then developed a reputation as a hard-nosed, effective mayor. Her performance in Wasilla got her elected president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors and earned her the nickname “Sarah Barracuda”.

In the end, I decided that Sarah Palin had actually compiled a rather astounding record of achievements in her 42 years, and was more than capable of making the jump to the national level. So now I ask you who you would rather have as your Vice-President. You could accept conventional wisdom and choose from the lineup of old men currently being bantered about, or you could choose an inspiring leader like Sarah Palin. As for me, I’m going with “Sarah Barracuda”, a candidate who will help us win the election and then deliver solid results.

Selected quotes from palinforgovernor.com

FREE MARKET – “I am a conservative Republican, a firm believer in free market capitalism. A free market system allows all parties to compete, which ensures the best and most competitive project emerges, and ensures a fair, democratic process.”

EDUCATION – Click here to read Gov. Palin’s full position paper on Education.

GUNS AND HUNTING – “I am a lifetime member of the NRA, I support our Constitutional right to bear arms and am a proponent of gun safety programs for Alaska’s youth….I have always strongly supported the personal use of fish and game by Alaskans. I grew up hunting and fishing in Alaska, and I am proud to raise my children with this same uniquely Alaskan heritage. … Anti-hunting groups who oppose hunting and fishing rights will be the winners if we allow them to pit us against ourselves….As an Alaskan with strong beliefs on this issue, I am confident in my ability to build consensus among diverse user groups and reconcile the many competing interests in a manner.”

SMALL BUSINESS – “As Mayor and CEO of the booming city of Wasilla, my team invited investment and encouraged business growth by eliminating small business inventory taxes, eliminated personal property taxes, reduced real property tax mill levies every year I was in office, reduced fees, and built the infrastructure our businesses needed to grow and prosper.”

MILITARY – “I respect our military personnel and understand the importance of Alaska’s National Guard. As I watched our military men and women being deployed I recognized how important it is for their families to know how much Alaska and America support them.”

HEALTH CARE – “I support flexibility in government regulations that allow competition in health care that is needed, and is proven to be good for the consumer, which will drive down health care costs and reduce the need for government subsidies. I also support patients in their rightful demands to have access to full medical billing information.”

SOCIAL ISSUES – “I am pro-life and I believe that marriage should only be between and man and a woman.”

ENVIRONMENT – “Regimes to protect Stellar Sea Lions must be based on sound science not personal agendas…I will fight in every way possible to make sure that our fishing communities are protected from the personal agendas of federal fishery managers”

“I believe in protecting Alaska’s environment through fair enforcement of our environmental laws. Having a clean record on environmental regulation is critical to getting ANWR open and maintaining our fisheries mining, timber, and tourism industries.”

  1. Wow!

I get the opening move on this one!

Sarah Palin is a bit of a gamble due to her unknown record nationally. While i don’t consider her lack of “experience” on a national level a significant handicap a disabling factor, the MSM will jump on that with a vengance. They could turn a molehill into a mountain since they still control the message to a very significant portion of the national population. Now for the good part.

The day after the DNC McCain manged to wipe out the most important elements of Obama’s campaign message quite effectively. Obama’s message was built around the historicity of electing him as president and his status as a DC “ousider.” McCain now insured that the election would be equally historic no matter which ticket was chosen. While the MSN even now tries to minimize the historicity of electiing the first woman to the vice presidency, the fact is that while the election of a mullatto to the office of the president is highly significant to 14% of the national population, the election of a woman to the office of the vice president is significant to over half of the national. So historicity is now a non-issue. What a stroke of genious on somebody’s part! But it gets better than that!

So Obama is the “Washington outsider’ candidate. He still has two years as a Federal Senator. I guess that means that only his foot was on the inside! He diluted that advantage by picking Biden, the quissetential washington insider as his running mate. Well, the selection of Palin by McCain complets the kill. Palin is now the real Washington outsider on the ticket. Bye bye advantage Obama! McCain just hit you right between the eyes!

But the MSN jumped all over Palin’s youth and inexperience. Bad move boys! Consider this. The age difference between Obama and Palin is just three years. That is insignificant, period. and in her case it is not the leader of the ticket who is young and inexperienced. Oh, but she is still inexperienced. Wrong!!! Of the four candidates on the ticket to chose from she is the only, and I mean ONLY, one with ANY exeperience running a governmental executive administration. Govenor of a state is akin to running a small country and the only office in the United states which is close enough to that of the president to really qualify as preparation for the oval office. Palin is now the only candidate with any comparable experience in the race and is more ready to govern from day if anything happened to McCain than Obama or McCain is when picked for the presidency. The MSN is being quite hypocritical to say that Obama is qualified to run the nation while Palin is not. That one is going to make them look idiotic and hurt the One in the long run.

Palin’s conservative credentials are without question. She also runs on a record of cleaning up corruption in her state despite the stain of that affair involving her brother-in-law. Her decision not to abort a down’s syndrome fetus cements her viability to the value’s crowd and I think the MSN is very mistaken to see the woman’s voting block as a one-trick pony only interested in a candidates stand on abortion. There are signs that Palin is favorable to other reasonable femminist issue such as spouse abuse and equal pay for equal work. so Palin may cut a swath through the feminist camp which they won’t see coming.

Dr. James Dobson is the last of the great evangelical leaders. Where he goes the rest go. He just annouced that McCain’s decision to pick Palin sealed the deal for him and he is no longer opposed to McCain as the conservative pick. He will carry a not insignificant block of voters right along with him. He said tonight on Hannity&Colmes that he was in a meeting of 300 religious conservative leaders when news of the pick was flashed up on a silent screen. He said the news recieved a standing ovation from those folks, which was something he’d never seen happen before. McCain has now become the liberal’s worst nightmare.

    What say you?

  2. I think you’re right on with the media’s hypocrisy of immediately bashing Palin for inexperience when they’ve never challenged Obama on lack of experience. Palin’s held elective office longer, has executive experience, and has a strong legislative record of reform.

  3. Thank you kmorrison,

There are now other signs that the “religious right” are getting excited over this one. Since they are the liberal bogey men folks on the left, include the MSN are getting desparate. Now I don’t buy into the bit about that monlithic religioug right. But they are not an insignificant group and perception is an important part of warfare. Right now politics is war.

On that topic I am a subscriber to Sun Tzu.

  4. Well, well, well,

The endemic democratic and MSN mysogyny is coming out in all its disgusting obscenity. I guess that since Palin is everything the left political wing say intelligent woman can be it is okay for them to indulge in such a latant hate-fest. It is the real face of liberalism on display.

According to those, oh so, mentally superior elites from their elevated view, Palin is just a cute, dumb as dirt, little Annie Oakley who needs to just run along and go back to her dull litte life the the kitchen. THAT is where she belongs. she has no business running with the big dogs.

The trouble is that Palin is everything libs say intelligent woman are not. She is consrevative, pro-life, a hunting and gun enthusiast, and religious. Acoording to those folks from their lofty view, the only acceptable women in politics have to come from elite universities and subscribe to hard-core feminist ideology. Nothing else is acceptable. How dare she be good looking, tough, savvy, kool, hold any kind of a college dergee no matter how minor, and NOT march jack-booted in lock step with her elite feminist sisters on the left? It is inconceivable they scream!!!!

Yet there she is. She does not have the required ivy league pedigree. Her primary career was housewife until she discovered in the PTA that she liked politics. sure, she minored in politics at the university of Idaho, but that doesn’t really count in the liberal scheme of things. My God, but the girl is an even better poster girl for the pretty, successful, woman than anbody to step on the world stage, including the atavistic liberal god Hillary Clinton. Anathema!!!!

So, they are piling on with the worst display of mysogyny bar none, including that piled a few years ago on Dr. Rice. They are enraged, desparate, and this is just the warm-up not even 48 hours after the announcement of her selection by McCain as his running mate.

On another forum now defunct I predicted that this years campaign would easily be the most vicious, and hateful in the history of this republic. Little did I know just how much the democrats and their lackeys in the MSN would exxeed my expectations.

    Hang on for the ride!
