Democrats created the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac problems years ago, in a well intentioned but failed effort to allow low income groups to buy houses. They stopped ALL eforts at reform until it was too late. Now they are trying to blame Bush, McCain and Republicans, everyone but themselves. That’s the Gods truth and here is the proof:

Pelosi must be a little disappointed that her being the most powerful woman in Washington only merits her being down about 22nd on that list.
My guess is that McCain’s getting a little more for his campaign must be an attempt at hushing him up if elected. It was McCain in 05 who, along with the White House, tried to do something about the mess at Freedie Mac and Fanny Mae.
At any rate, the Freddie Mac debacle with the financial meltdown it caused is a classic example of what happens when politicians meddle with the markets. Democrats, including the last Demo president, pressured the banks to write loans they knew were bad. In fact, they left the banks no choice. Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae were created to buy up that bad paper and reduce the banks’ risks.
The Democrats stringently opposed any efforts to change that. Even when the writing was on the wall they stopped every effort Bush made to put a stop on the insanity. And now they have the nerve to blame it on him!
They also blame McCain, who was nearly a lone voice in the Senate seeking a stop to the madness. How rich! McCain was dead on with his prediction that there would be a collapse and meltdown. At least he got in there and fought.
Barack claims to have warned of the problem. Were was he when Dodd and Kerry and then Pelosi shut down any reform of those two institutions? Oh yes, that right, he was on the campaign trail telling us how great he is!

Down at the bottom of the chart where that figure originally was found on the Federal Election Commission disclosure pages it indicates that the number includes contributions from PACs and individuals.
Obama received a total of $6,000 from a Fannie/Freddie PAC — and only prior to his campaign for Presidency, when he announced he would no longer take any lobbyists PAC money.
The remainder was from individuals who are employees of Fannie/Freddie, in the years between 1989-2008. The two companies at one time had over 12,000 employees.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac employees donated $126,349 to the Obama campaign while they donated $21,550 to McCain. Corporations themselves are ineligible from donating to political campaigns. Whereas, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac board of directors and lobbyists donated $169,000 to McCain and his related committees, compared with $16,000 to Obama and his related committees.
It’s funny how this chart leaves out the contributions of directors, officers and lobbyist to the McCain 2008 Campaign:

FINELY someone had the guts to challenge Obama’s citizenship. His Mother HAD TO renounce her U.S. Citizenship to marry Sorento and move to Indonesia thus making Barry Sorento NOT A U.S. Citizen.
The court papers were filed in Sept 08.

Sometimes the facts are inconvenient. It is simply the truth to state that Obama has received the most donations from EMPLOYEES of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and McCain has received the most from DIRECTORS, OFFICERS and LOBBYISTS of those same companies.
To me this says that McCain has the support of the companies and Obama has the support of the people that just happen to work there. To the majority of people out there (including pretty much all the people here if you could just admit it) this puts Obama in a much better light, regarding this *specific issue* of donations from those companies.
Now, all you people out there that are twisting this one should be ashamed of yourself if you continue to use this misinformation. There is plenty of actual information you could use to fight Obama (or the democrats in general) on Freddie and Fannie, but this is not it.
