• Welcome Purple People

To me Purple People are those of us who are neither Republican Red nor Democrat Blue; we find ourselves in between. The internet often represents those on the far left or the far right; this site is for those of us in the middle.

Since there are a variety of non-conformists that consider themselves Independents, here's a clarification. The point of view of this blog is basically Realist/Libertarian light...

-Pro Small Government, bureaucracies tend to be wasteful and inefficient.

-Government should not be the morality police.

-Less waste, lower taxes. Taxes are okay if spent wisely. Roads and schools need funding. Be smart with my money and I won't complain.

-Government shouldn't babysit adults. Help kids and assist people who have serious problems, but stop trying to protect everyone from themselves.

-Foreign policy should be conducted by people with brains and experience. Think, don't be reckless and don't be politically motivated. Remember that the U.S. is not the only country in the world.

-Tone down the rhetoric and remember your manners. Play nicely and don't belittle people who disagree with you.

Obama Signs and Salutes

U.S. News and World Report’s article One Nation, Under a New Obama Salute describes this new ‘Obama salute’ started by some supporters, and quotes the promotor of this salute.

“Our goal is to see a crowd of 75,000 people at Obama’s nomination speech holding their hands above their heads, fingers laced together in support of a new direction for this country, a renewed hope, and acceptance of responsibility for our future,”

“We thought, ‘Let’s try and start a movement where even while walking down the street, people would hold up the O and you would know that they were for Obama,’ “

“We want to see it everywhere, but more importantly we want this sign to take the world by storm.”

Please, somebody get these people a history book. This is creepy, and Obama supporters apparently have no idea why. Let’s just say the last political hand gesture that took ‘the world by storm’, represented the most evil dictatorship of the 20th century, and possibly of all time. The poster promoting this salute looks like a throw back to socialist propoganda. The gesture itself; well that’s rather amusing, but this is a G rated site so the reader can decide for themselves what this hand gesture might represent.

  1. This is consistent with the authoritarian iconography forwarded by the O-Team: the ersatz “O Possumus” seal, the OBEY-created agitprop-style posters, the exploitation of Prussian military symbols for the aggrandizement of political gravitas in Berlin, and now a hand signal “to take the world by storm.” What next? A fabulous new Rockette-style march O-March through Chicago?

Good lord, America. Elect these unoriginal thugs and charlatans and you deserve the hell that will follow.

  2. … the airplane with no American flag, the (acknowledged so) Che-inspired portrait, the Leni Reiffenstahl-type of angles used in the Berlin coverage, etc, etc - and don’t forget the liberal media’s almost exclusive use of shots of Glibama in the “Jesus of Rio” posture, low angles with an arm raised, pointing to the luminous future.
This imagery well used by Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, and all communist tyrants - and strangely, many American don’t find Glibama’s campaign disturbing, Do we assist at a media creeping coup?

  3. That kinda looks like where Obama is gonna give it to all of us in the U.S. … right up the a-hole.

  5. Just when I thought it could not get any worse….

  6. Heil Hitler

  8. My mother is a liberal Democrat and grew up in London during WW2…she is voting Republican for the first time in her life…she called me first because she knew I’d be happy…when I asked why the change of heart, she told me that this guy gives her the same bad feelings she had in the 1930’s coming from another megalomaniac…Mom knows best!

  9. i can only wish that 75,000 people would stand up and sing the Star Spangled Anthem, then I would know that America still stands for something and freedom.

  10. Hat tip to your Mom JMG.

  11. I love this stuff….this guy just keeps making it easier, his supporters as well…..very “secretive hand signs, presidential-esque logos….one word and one only…

    HUBRIS……to be his downfall……

  12. Is that a sign of their innate intelligence, their moral anchor, their knowledge of history, their …?

More and more, just when you think that this megalomaniac can’t get more absurd, this.

Worth noting is that he’s surrounded by people who must feed ideas to him and must support such tripe.

You wonder: Will he unveil the Obama anthem at Denver? He had the chance in Berlin.

Sung to the tune of the German national anthem “Des Lied der Deutschen” [the Song of the German]-its first verse is “Deutschland, Deutschland über alles, Über alles in der Welt.”

Translated: “Germany, Germany over all, over everything in the world.”

Obama’s first verse would be “Obama, Obama over all, over everything in the world…”

The third verse, translated and Obama-ified:

    “Unity and justice and freedom
    for Obama that is like our father;
    Let us all find these
as brothers, with heart and hand.
    Unity and justice and freedom
    are the way to happiness.”

The final verse, translated and Obama-ified:

    “Obama, Obama above all,
and during bad times more than ever,
    only in troubles can love
    show how he is strong and true;
    And so the song continues
    from parents to children.”

This guy and those who advise him, as well as his devotees, are truly frightening.

It’s as if they’ll all had some collective emotional breakdown and have entered a madness from which they appear they’ll never return.

That’s OK as long as they are not granted governing power, so that they may damage, if not ruin, our country.

  13. “Our goal is to see a crowd of 75,000 people at Obama’s nomination speech holding their hands above their heads, fingers laced together …” there is something about this hand gesture, what is it? And being waved back and forth in the air? I’m sort of thinking… no, they couldn’t mean… that is sort of obscene. Ewe, these Obama voters have taken their adoration to a new level.
