• Welcome Purple People

To me Purple People are those of us who are neither Republican Red nor Democrat Blue; we find ourselves in between. The internet often represents those on the far left or the far right; this site is for those of us in the middle.

Since there are a variety of non-conformists that consider themselves Independents, here's a clarification. The point of view of this blog is basically Realist/Libertarian light...

-Pro Small Government, bureaucracies tend to be wasteful and inefficient.

-Government should not be the morality police.

-Less waste, lower taxes. Taxes are okay if spent wisely. Roads and schools need funding. Be smart with my money and I won't complain.

-Government shouldn't babysit adults. Help kids and assist people who have serious problems, but stop trying to protect everyone from themselves.

-Foreign policy should be conducted by people with brains and experience. Think, don't be reckless and don't be politically motivated. Remember that the U.S. is not the only country in the world.

-Tone down the rhetoric and remember your manners. Play nicely and don't belittle people who disagree with you.

Reports of Obama Fundraising Fraud

The American Spectator in its article Obama’s Fishy $200 Million reports that an unnamed auditor for the Federal Elections Commission is being prevented investigating questionable fundraising techniques by the Obama campaign.

The Obama campaign has already had to deal with several FEC complaints about fraudulent donors and illegal foreign contributions, and the FEC says it has no record that those complaints have been resolved or closed. As well, the Obama campaign has been cagey at times about the means by which it has made its historic fundraising hauls, which now total almost $500 million for the election cycle. The Hillary Clinton campaign raised questions about the huge amount of e-retail sales the Obama campaign was making for such things as t-shirts and other campaign paraphernalia, and how such sales were being tracked and used for fundraising purposes. While the profits of those items counted against the $2,300 personal donation limit, there have always been lingering questions about the e-retail system…

…The FEC analyst says that Obama’s filings indicate he has received large, bundled sums of donations from overseas, sometimes exceeding a quarter millions dollars. “It’s suspicious, but it’s the small donations made by credit card that need to be examined. We’ve raised red flags on many of these and the Obama campaign just ignores us. After this election, after we’ve sifted through everything — if we’re allowed to sift through everything — I am confident that we are looking at perhaps the largest fine every leveled against a national campaign entity.”

Similarly Newsmax reports in their article Secret, Foreign Money Floods Into Obama Campaign that online fund raising combine with no requirement to report donors who contribute less than $200 has lead to serious questions about Obama contributors.

Under campaign finance laws, an individual can donate $2,300 to a candidate for federal office in both the primary and general election, for a total of $4,600. If a donor has topped the limit in the primary, the campaign can ‘redesignate’ the contribution to the general election on its books.

In a letter dated June 25, 2008, the FEC asked the Obama campaign to verify a series of $25 donations from a contributor identified as ‘Will, Good’ from Austin, Texas.

Mr. Good Will listed his employer as ‘Loving’ and his profession as ‘You.’

A Newsmax analysis of the 1.4 million individual contributions in the latest master file for the Obama campaign discovered 1,000 separate entries for Mr. Good Will, most of them for $25.

In total, Mr. Good Will gave $17,375.

Following this and subsequent FEC requests, campaign records show that 330 contributions from Mr. Good Will were credited back to a credit card. But the most recent report, filed on Sept. 20, showed a net cumulative balance of $8,950 still well over the $4,600 limit.

There can be no doubt that the Obama campaign noticed these contributions, since Obama’s Sept. 20 report specified that Good Will’s cumulative contributions since the beginning of the campaign were $9,375.

In an e-mailed response to a query from Newsmax, Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt pledged that the campaign would return the donations. But given the slowness with which the campaign has responded to earlier FEC queries, there’s no guarantee that the money will be returned before the Nov. 4 election.

Similarly, a donor identified as ‘Pro, Doodad,’ from ‘Nando, NY,’ gave $19,500 in 786 separate donations, most of them for $25. For most of these donations, Mr. Doodad Pro listed his employer as ‘Loving’ and his profession as ‘You,’ just as Good Will had done.

Foreign contributions are particularly suspect.

Until recently, the Obama Web site allowed a contributor to select the country where he resided from the entire membership of the United Nations, including such friendly places as North Korea and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Unlike McCain’s or Sen. Hillary Clinton’s online donation pages, the Obama site did not ask for proof of citizenship until just recently. Clinton’s presidential campaign required U.S. citizens living abroad to actually fax a copy of their passport before a donation would be accepted.

With such lax vetting of foreign contributions, the Obama campaign may have indirectly contributed to questionable fundraising by foreigners.

The National Review is also reporting on “Sen. Obama’s eye-popping fundraising operation” in their article Obama’s Funny Money, or Who’s “Loving” “You,” Barry?

  1. Big surprise, not! The Obama campaign would not know the truth or honesty if it had jaws clamped on their backsides. This campaign will do and say anything to steal the whitehouse. I have never believed the claims of all those small donors. If there were that many people sending in regular payments to the campaign, why with the economy in Obama’s opinion heading toward the worst time since the depression, would they believe that they would raise 100 million in this next month? They know the whole small donor thing is a lie, but then so is Obama’s whole phoney persona.

  2. wow, all I can say, wow.

  3. American spectator and newsmax have no reliability for stating the truth.

  4. The problem is not Obama’s fundrising system but the unwillingness of the proper authorities and media to investigate it - can one buy his way up to the white house with bundled money from Bahamas or elsewhere?
    It looks like…

  5. Obama is no more than an everyday Chicago politician. His fundraising and tactics are evidence of this.

If the voters feel there will be change if he is elected, they are fooling themselves. He will toe the Democratic line without exception. Higher taxes and cronies just like any other politician that has made it this to this level.

  6. Like Bill Clinton said in the primaries, “This whole thing is a fairy tale.” The only thing I would add to that is that it is actually a nightmare, a national disgrace. We have already witnessed unprecedented fraud and corruption in the primaries. If this guy is elected, his will be the most corrupt, most oppressive administration in history. And that, unfortunately, is not an exaggeration.

  7. Rick S. how many facgts need to be thrown in your face before you suddenly realize that the “messiah” is not who you think he is.

By the way, neither was Fidel Castro or Hugo Chavez.

  13. IT SCARES ME THAT THIS IS BEING DONE TO LITTLE TO LATE. SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE REQUESTED THIS FOR MONTHS AND NOW 4 WEEKS BEFORE THE ELECTION IT IS BEING LOOKED INTO . OBAMA SHOULD BE DISQUALIFIED ON THE BASIS OF WHAT WAS FOUND IN THE SHORT PERIOD. HE IS GETTING HOMELESS BLACK PEOPLE REGISTERED WITH NO ADDRESS AND BEING PICKED UP TO GO TO THE POLLS, THE PROBLEM IS FELONS CAN’T VOTE AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA THESE PEOPLE’S BACKGROUND. JUST AS IN THE CAUCAUS’ THESE PEOPLE CAN VOTE SEVERAL TIMES. OBAMA HAS RUN A DISHONEST CAMPAIGN FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW. HOW SCARY IS IT TO HAVE A PRESIDENT THAT DOESN’T DO ANYTHING TO PREVENT THIS CORRUPTION BUT WHAT IS WORSE IS HE IS THE REASON FOR CORRUPTION. EVEN WITH ONLY 4 WEEKS LEFT HE SHOULD BE MADE TO STEP DOWN.

  14. Sergio Santos - it’s referred to as the audicity to think he can get away with it - and yes he does - who is going to investigate him - the Democratic Congres is in control and in the tank for him - hello - is anyone home up there - think - think.

  15. This Is The Same Thing That Were Highly Prevalent In The Primaries,They Wait Until It’s Over To Start Making Inquiries Into Obama’s Internet Donors Whoever Believe That,Well You Probably Are About Fa Gone Now So Rationale Is Not One Of Your Strong Suits.

  16. It is sad that today “facts and data” do not count. The far left and liberal press, one and the same, argue without facts or data. They dismiss all data because they don’t know how to analyze or reason. I THOUGHT a liberal arts education taught people HOW to think? Obviously it teaches them WHAT to think. Poor liberals…

Rick S… “facts and data” please. All the liberal postings are one liners because they have no facts or data, therefore there can be no intelligent discussions with a liberal.
