• Welcome Purple People

To me Purple People are those of us who are neither Republican Red nor Democrat Blue; we find ourselves in between. The internet often represents those on the far left or the far right; this site is for those of us in the middle.

Since there are a variety of non-conformists that consider themselves Independents, here's a clarification. The point of view of this blog is basically Realist/Libertarian light...

-Pro Small Government, bureaucracies tend to be wasteful and inefficient.

-Government should not be the morality police.

-Less waste, lower taxes. Taxes are okay if spent wisely. Roads and schools need funding. Be smart with my money and I won't complain.

-Government shouldn't babysit adults. Help kids and assist people who have serious problems, but stop trying to protect everyone from themselves.

-Foreign policy should be conducted by people with brains and experience. Think, don't be reckless and don't be politically motivated. Remember that the U.S. is not the only country in the world.

-Tone down the rhetoric and remember your manners. Play nicely and don't belittle people who disagree with you.

CNN’s Drew Griffin Reports on Obama / Ayers

I’ve been very critical of CNN this election cyle, but have to give credit where credit is due; this is a fair and thoughtful look at the Obama Ayers connection.

One additional point from Sol Stern of City Journal in his article The Bomber as School Reformer; Bill Ayers is still a radical, and while his role in education reform sounds innocuous it is anything but.

Calling Bill Ayers a school reformer is a bit like calling Joseph Stalin an agricultural reformer…

…As I have shown in previous articles in City Journal, Ayers’s school reform agenda focuses almost exclusively on the idea of teaching for “social justice” in the classroom. This has nothing to do with the social-justice ideals of the Sermon on the Mount or Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Rather, Ayers and his education school comrades are explicit about the need to indoctrinate public school children with the belief that America is a racist, militarist country and that the capitalist system is inherently unfair and oppressive.

  1. This hatchet-job consists of unsubstantiated inference, like every effort to assign Obama guilt by association. Let’s see, what does it really say: Ayers was politically active and lived in Obama’s neighborhood, he once hosted a political tea to introduce him-a routine activity that anyone active in local politics might be involved in,-and he and Ayers-along with many others, Republicans, Democrats and independents-served on a board together. There is not a scrap of evidence to link Obama with Ayers radical views or that would justify Ms. Palin’s clalims that he “pals” around with terrorists.

The evidence linking Ms. Palin to the radical and, at least rhetorically violent, Alaska Independence Party, , and linking McCain to John Singlaub and his crazies is fairly substantive by comparison. Republicans ought to be careful with this line of attack.

  2. Show me who you hang in the hood with and I will show you just who you are. You hang with radicals at every turn it means something. I bet if a tape just popped up showing Saint O clapping at one of those racist sermons you would have an excuse for that too. Stay tuned!!!

  3. Check out Obama’s plans for voluntary community service. His philosophy mirrors that of Ayers.

  4. Wilma you are an Obama Troll - nothing more - nothing less.

Good luck - because you aren’t changing anyone’s mind on this page.

It justs tears you apart that your messiah doesn’t have as many followers as you think he does.

Your boy is going down - the investigations have already begun.

  5. Well let’s see; We have the terrorists Ayers connection aired by CNN,
we have the swelling Tony Rezko case, richly sprinkled with corruption on both state and federal level - and the FBI ARE barking,
we have the reverend Wright and Pfleger associations – a neat little story about a bigot anti-American quasi-religious group which Barack just happened to intend for more than 20 years…
    - I mean enough! Please stop the presses! Is this race really for real? Because it’s just get surrealistic for me. Please any Obamabot out there; you Wilma perhaps, give me just one name, just one previous presidential contenders name who was aloud to run with such scabby relationships…
Not to mention such razor-thin credentials. Unbelievable.

“Check out Obama’s plans for voluntary community service. His philosophy mirrors that of Ayers.”

You’re worried about Obama’s plans for COMMUNITY SERVICE!? The economy is dying.. we are in a war. and you are worried about Obama’s community service.. yeah you people have your priorities straight.

“It justs tears you apart that your messiah doesn’t have as many followers as you think he does.”

why does the right always refer to Obama as the left’s “messiah”? Are you all so entrenched by your gods (rush, hannity) that you carry over their namesakes?
