• Welcome Purple People

To me Purple People are those of us who are neither Republican Red nor Democrat Blue; we find ourselves in between. The internet often represents those on the far left or the far right; this site is for those of us in the middle.

Since there are a variety of non-conformists that consider themselves Independents, here's a clarification. The point of view of this blog is basically Realist/Libertarian light...

-Pro Small Government, bureaucracies tend to be wasteful and inefficient.

-Government should not be the morality police.

-Less waste, lower taxes. Taxes are okay if spent wisely. Roads and schools need funding. Be smart with my money and I won't complain.

-Government shouldn't babysit adults. Help kids and assist people who have serious problems, but stop trying to protect everyone from themselves.

-Foreign policy should be conducted by people with brains and experience. Think, don't be reckless and don't be politically motivated. Remember that the U.S. is not the only country in the world.

-Tone down the rhetoric and remember your manners. Play nicely and don't belittle people who disagree with you.

Promises of Redistribution and Spread the Wealth

David Harsanyi’s article If It Redistributes Like a Duck… looks at Obama’s plans to change the fundamental structure of the American economy by focusing tax codes on redistribution of wealth.

Obama is the first major presidential candidate in memory to assert that taxation’s principal purpose should be redistribution.

The proposition that government should take one group’s lawfully earned profits and hand them to another group — not a collection of destitute or impaired Americans, mind you, but a still-vibrant middle class — is the foundational premise of Obama’s fiscal policy.

It was Joe Biden who said (not long ago, when he still was permitted to speak in public), “We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people.” The only entity that “takes” money from the middle class — or any class for that matter — is the Internal Revenue Service. Other than that, there is nothing to give back.

And who knew we needed such a drastic renovation of an economic philosophy we’ve adhered to these past 25 years (yes, counting Bill Clinton’s comparatively fiscally conservative record)? Despite a recent downturn and with all the serious tribulations we face, Americans have just lived through perhaps the most prosperous and peaceful era human beings ever have enjoyed.

From 1982 until now, every arrow on nearly every economic growth chart — every health care chart, every chart that matters — points in one general direction, and that’s up.

Obama, who, it seems, is running not only for president but also for national baby sitter/accountant/daddy/icon, ignores this success and claims he can “invest” (will that euphemism ever go away?) and disperse your money more efficiently, smartly and fairly than you can. How could any American accept the absurdity of that position?

  3. The illegal immigration program can be boild down to two things. Enforcement of the laws of this land, this will lead to attrition, they will pull up stakes and voluntarrily leave the USA, if we enforce the laws already on the books, just you cannot arrest someone for a dui where that driver caused a faatal accident and someone was killed in the accident, the judges in the USA has been just letting anyone illegal go, and not charging them with the appropriate charge of Homicide, they have not been doing that, because that they are illegals! That makes no sense, and we law abiding citizens want to end those gross miscarriages of justice!

The only other thing, it the govt, has given you the figures of 10 to 12 million illegals in this country, actually the real figures is more like double those figures, so its another severe problem that George Bush failed to follow the oath his took when he took office, to protect this country from any invasions, foreign or domestic, we have been invaded by Mexico , South America and the Latin American countries, and George Bush did nothing at all!

George should be held accountable to his oath of office, or else why even take it and go thru those symbolic steps, it looks like fake govt expenses to me.

I am a retired Senior citizen, and this is how I see it.
