• Welcome Purple People

To me Purple People are those of us who are neither Republican Red nor Democrat Blue; we find ourselves in between. The internet often represents those on the far left or the far right; this site is for those of us in the middle.

Since there are a variety of non-conformists that consider themselves Independents, here's a clarification. The point of view of this blog is basically Realist/Libertarian light...

-Pro Small Government, bureaucracies tend to be wasteful and inefficient.

-Government should not be the morality police.

-Less waste, lower taxes. Taxes are okay if spent wisely. Roads and schools need funding. Be smart with my money and I won't complain.

-Government shouldn't babysit adults. Help kids and assist people who have serious problems, but stop trying to protect everyone from themselves.

-Foreign policy should be conducted by people with brains and experience. Think, don't be reckless and don't be politically motivated. Remember that the U.S. is not the only country in the world.

-Tone down the rhetoric and remember your manners. Play nicely and don't belittle people who disagree with you.

Funny Funding For Obama

As mentioned in the previous post Reports of Obama Fundraising Fraud there have been questions about the manner in which the Obama campaign has raised such large sums of money. Newsweek has also taken notice of the problems with small donors in its article Obama’s ‘Good Will’ Hunting, and has noted that the McCain campaign has made all of its small donor information public while the Obama campaign has refused.

“Good Will” listed his employer as “Loving” and his occupation as “You,” while supplying as his address 1015 Norwood Park Boulevard, which is shared by the Austin nonprofit Goodwill Industries. Suzanha Burmeister, marketing director for Goodwill, said the group had “no clue” who the donor was. She added, however, that the group had received five puzzling thank-you letters from the Obama campaign this year, prompting it to send the campaign an e-mail in September pointing out the apparent fraudulent use of its name.
…(In a similar case earlier this year, the campaign returned $33,000 to two Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip who had bought T shirts in bulk from the campaign’s online store. They had listed their address as “Ga.,” which the campaign took to mean Georgia rather than Gaza.) “While no organization is completely protected from Internet fraud, we will continue to review our fund-raising procedures,” LaBolt said. Some critics say the campaign hasn’t done enough. This summer, watchdog groups asked both campaigns to share more information about its small donors. The McCain campaign agreed; the Obama campaign did not. “They could’ve done themselves a service” by heeding the suggestions, said Massie Ritsch of the Center for Responsive Politics.

Update: Washington Post reports RNC to File FEC Complaint on Obama Fundraising Practices

The RNC is alleging that the Obama campaign was so hungry for donations it “looked the other way” as contributions piled up from suspicious, and possibly even illegal foreign donors.

“We believe that the American people should know first and foremost if foreign money is pouring into a presidential election,” said RNC Chief Counsel Sean Cairncross.

Cairncross alleged there was mounting evidence of this, and cited a report in the current issue of Newsweek magazine that documents a handful of instances where donors made repeated small donations using fake names, such as “Good Will” and “Doodad Pro.”

  1. Let’’s hope the recent suit filed by the RNC doesn’t go the same desultory route that Berg’s suit over the missing COLB has….

  2. The dominating Democratic Congress will block this investigation just like they did for Freddie and Fannie, oh and that little thing called ACORN.

When there is a disaster -they’ll blame it on everyone else but themselves. This is probably evil temptress Sarah’s fault too.

  3. Like Sparky mentioned how they will blame everyone but themselves is true. But like crying wolf (or racist for that matter) too many times. Blaming everyone again and again is going to be back fire. Sooner (and hopefully not) or later.

  6. I am swiss and resident in Geneva, Switzerland.

    1) I certify that the Obama campaign has raised money from SWISS residents (not US citizens!)

    2) I can also certify that at a fundraising reception help in my town Geneva in early sept., several people gave the Obama campaign about 20′000 usd each which is way above the legal limits in your country.

On my local Geneva TV, a SWISS donor has actually declared “it is our duty - as swiss citizens - to help elect a black candidate because this is a historic and fantastic thing”.

I stand ready to witness and bring proof backing up my statement. I dont know who to contact in usa so I am just tryin to post a few messagges under some articles appearin to raise the question of fraudulent donations to Obama.
