• Welcome Purple People

To me Purple People are those of us who are neither Republican Red nor Democrat Blue; we find ourselves in between. The internet often represents those on the far left or the far right; this site is for those of us in the middle.

Since there are a variety of non-conformists that consider themselves Independents, here's a clarification. The point of view of this blog is basically Realist/Libertarian light...

-Pro Small Government, bureaucracies tend to be wasteful and inefficient.

-Government should not be the morality police.

-Less waste, lower taxes. Taxes are okay if spent wisely. Roads and schools need funding. Be smart with my money and I won't complain.

-Government shouldn't babysit adults. Help kids and assist people who have serious problems, but stop trying to protect everyone from themselves.

-Foreign policy should be conducted by people with brains and experience. Think, don't be reckless and don't be politically motivated. Remember that the U.S. is not the only country in the world.

-Tone down the rhetoric and remember your manners. Play nicely and don't belittle people who disagree with you.

Odd Obama Imagery

Besides an affinity for the color blue, and a love of eagles; the Obama graphics department has made some odd graphic choices as of late.  Their desire to dub Senator Obama president prior to a vote is their most common error.  Obama graphics have helped fuel the ‘annointed one’ perception of Senator Obama, as most people with common sense would realize the hubris of sitting in a chair labeled ‘president’, or standing behind a podium which is clearly a rip off of the presidential seal.

Then there is their disrespect for American icons and imagery.  Doctoring the presidential seal and using the Declaration of Independence as a fundraising gimick shows either a lack of understanding of the historical importance of these icons, or a simple disrespect.

Another vote for ‘not knowing their history’ comes with the poster made to promote Senator Obama’s speech in Germany.  Putting Senator Obama’s face on a decidedly European style poster with German writing could give people who grew up in the ’30’s chest pains.  Imagine if this poster was red and not blue; it would be very creepy.

Finally, a spot for the fans.  This poster and hand gesture is not connected to the campaign, but is such an a decisive example of poor judgement it deserves to be noted.  Some Obama supporters thought a hand gesture that symbolized ones support for the Obama movement would be a good idea.  Showing a clear ignorance of history.  Clearly someone should let these folks know that political hand gestures have a very disturbing and tragic spot in world history.
