The New York Post reports that John Murtagh whose home was fire bombed by the Weather Underground as
a child states that Barack Obama is covering up his relationship with William Ayers in the article Terror Victims Questions for Barack
WHEN John Murtagh was 9 years old, Bill Ayers’ friends tried to kill him.
“I remember my mother’s pulling me from the tangle of sheets and running to the kitchen where my father stood. Through the large windows overlooking the yard, all we could see was the bright glow of flames below. We didn’t leave our burning house for fear of who might be waiting outside,” wrote Murtagh recently in City Journal.
It wasn’t personal. John’s dad was a judge presiding over a trial of some Black Panthers. John still remembers the red graffiti on the sidewalk the next morning: “Free the Panther 21; The Viet Cong Have Won; Kill the Pigs.”
As best he recalls, Bernardine Dohrn, who’s now Ayers’ wife, first claimed credit for bombing John’s home in 1970…
…Obama’s campaign is busy fudging. His top political adviser claims Obama just didn’t know Ayers’ history when they first met. Bomber? What bomber? Right.
“If that’s true, Obama has to be the dumbest man who ever graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law School,” snorts Murtagh. “I don’t buy that at all.”
Murtagh believes the relationship between the Obamas, Ayers and Dohrn goes back 30 years, to Michelle Obama’s time at Sidley Austin, a law firm that also employed Dohrn.
Murtagh doesn’t blame Obama for what Ayers and his friends did. He blames Obama for picking a man like Ayers as a friend and mentor - and then covering up the friendship.
In politics, things get complicated. Truth becomes hard to find. But not this.
“The night they attacked our home, they also firebombed an army recruiting station out in Brooklyn and police patrol cars outside of Greenwich Village,” notes Murtagh. “Three weeks later, they accidentally blew themselves up. They intended to attack the officer’s club at Fort Dix.”
Lay your cards on the table, says Murtagh. “Obama’s free to associate with Dohrn and Ayers; that’s his right,” he tells me. “But don’t hide the relationship, and be forthcoming and let people decide the significance of it for themselves.”

Excellent post. I saw Murtagh on Hannity. The whole bombing thing and Obama’s radical ties really hit home when you see and hear one of the people involved in this maniacal behavior.
I understand what he went through. We were shot at and our house broken into back in Georgia. It was a week of hell, it left bullet hols in pools, over people’s headboards, the bullets left a neighbor’s dog dying in their yard…..and so much more. The last night when they caught the 11, 13, and 15 year old AA boys I had food poisoning, I heard the shooting and could do nothing. None of the neighbors heard from us. When we opened the door at 5:30 am….our house was surrounded by DEA agents and local cops. This was in a town of 500 people. It is personal no matter what Murtaugh says. I don’t know how he can feel that way. But yeah it is Obama’s right to hang out with whomever he wants….but he keeps lying about the relationship….that is what is so damning!
This is the new politics. A presidential candidate has to apologize for every interaction with someone unseemly. Obama did nothing wrong. Ayers is highly respected in some circles and is in fact respectable enough to win a grant from the Annenberg Foundation for 50 million dollars. Question the Annenberg Foundation if you like. How about the numerous others that were involved in the Chicago Challenge. Obama was chair on a charity board. He served on a board with someone whose politics he disagrees with. That is all. He does not have to explain it to anyone. If you have a problem with Ayers your problem is with Ayers, period.
Obama is not lying about the relationship. It is simply not his duty to explain. There was no relationship outside of the obvious, a professional relationship related to charity work alone. The meetings have been explored extensively and no one is claiming that Obama and Ayers had a personal relationship. They spoke about tasks. They had no particular animosity towards each other.
This is a misuse of the whole, “it’s not the crime it’s the cover up argument”. There is no reason for Obama to disclose anything. There have been no lies. Ayers is simply not a part of Obama’s life. I certainly don’t expect to have to vouch for the character of the people I work with. I wouldn’t expect anyone else would either. If Ayers is a criminal arrest him. If Ayers can not be trusted in society remove him. Unless there is actually some evidence of wrong doing I see no reason to believe there is any more here than fantasy.
This is simply another attempt from the Republican party to try to reignite the passions of the Vietnam war. It’s over and done, the past.
It is simply not his duty to explain.
OK. But is it his duty to lie ?
There’s not a lot of “actual” stuff to talk about with Barack Obama’s record. Nothing that you should bring up in front of the children.

See how Obama contradicts himself so many times.
You wouldn’t know when he is speaking truth and when he is lying.
NAFTA has been both good for the U.S. and bad for it. Some parts of the nation have been hurt by it, others have done quite well. It is not a lie to say that you don’t support NAFTA as it is currently constructed while assuring the players that we are committed to free trade. Unfortunately for people who love pat answers, the discussion about NAFTA does not lend itself well to soundbites.
Obama believes in his church. Read the media reports about Jeremiah Wright prior to Obama’s run for president and you too will find the description of an entirely different man. Wright has chosen with the added media attention to become a caricature of himself. I don’t see this as a lie. Wright has changed and become more polarizing, more outlandish, then he had been in the past. Obama disassociated with him when he chose that path.
There are no lies about Rezko. There is no there, there,
There is no personal relationship with Ayers. Their contacts were professional based on tasks. If Ayers is a threat someone should lock him up. Obama doesn’t “pall around with terrorists”. That is the statement that is a lie.
I am one who believes it is important, there are so many red flags that come up w/Obama and most seem ok with them. I wonder why? It’s not just Ayers, its all of them grouped together, Don’t you think there is a bigger picture here people? He has changed his postions on things he said he would never, like FISA, I do not trust him one bit and when I say this people will ask if I have trouble voting for a black man but that is not the problem it is this man, I could care less what color he/she is but this man is a dangerous man and his wife is bitter and I believe she is the racist. Why doesn’t it matter. I do feel like I am in the twilight zone. For the first time in “my adult life” I am afraid of what will happen if he is elected, (after he and ACORN steal another election).

You wrote that Obama didn’t lie about Rezko. There is no there, there. Well, here is just one there, there:
On Meet the Press, Tim Russert, ll/ll/07:
“Russert asked, “Is he (Rezko) still your friend?” Obama said, “You know, I have not talked to him since he got into trouble with the law.” Russert confirmed, “Period.” Obama said, “Never had a conversation with him.”
However, in the Chicago Sun-Times, 3/l5/08, this is what Obama says to a reporter’s question.
“Q. “Have you and Tony Rezko ever discussed this federal investigation that began to move against him or the criminal charges?”
“A. (Obama) Yes. When, I don’t remember exactly the dates, but I remember when we first contact about this story and the lot (2006), I called him to let him know that, “Look you may be getting inquiries about this and so it’s important for you to be able to talk to folks about your intentions in terms of development and so forth. At that point, I do remember saying to him how’s it going because I’m reading these problems. And his response was that his lawyers had been talking to the U. S. Attorney’s office and it’s all getting resolved. That was the sum total.”
Obama DOES have to explain his relationship to Ayers, an unrepentent terrorist; Rev. Wright of Black Liberation Theology; Rezko (Obama’s Political Godfather); Rashid Khalidi, President of the Arab American Action Network and PLO ties, Auchi (Iraqi arms dealer to Saddam Hussein), Alsammarae, his two Pakistani college friends now his bundlers, al Mansour(collected money to send Obama to Harvard), Soomro (Obama’s host in Pakistan when he was 20) interim President of Pakistan; his membership in the socialist New Party; Odinga (emails from Obama to Odinga on how to run his campaign in Kenya).
And that’s not even including his inexperience and flip-flops.
There is a lot more controversial info I have on Obama and I’m just an average concerned citizen.
This man,Obama, wants to be POTUS. He has a whole lot of explaining to do. Apologists for him may convince some uninformed voters, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
